Dave Mishevitz
Bio
Dave Mishevitz was born and raised in Metro Detroit. An EMU grad, who began his comedic journey as a founding member of Ball State University’s improv/sketch troupe, Absolunacy.
After a handful of standup performances in Chicago he moved west to Los Angeles and became a paid regular of The Improv and has his name scribed on The Comedy Store wall. He performed, wrote and directed sketch comedy with The Straitjacket Society and was a freelance writer for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Late Night in the Afternoon. Friar’s Club member, Barry Dougherty, included Dave in his book, ‘How to do it Standing Up.’
Between 2005-2010 he was honored to travel with Comics on Duty serving up laughs to those who serve in Iraq, Afghanistan, Southwest Asia, the Middle East, North Africa, Central America, Europe and Greenland. He’s performed at FOBs, PRTs, bases and aboard aircraft carriers, has sailed through the Panama Canal, even pulled rear security on a Striker ride through Mosul. You can tag-a-long on one of his trips in the documentary, ‘We Love You Mrs. Bevins.’
A SAG/AFTRA actor, you’ve seen his face and heard his voice in a multitude of commercials. He has also appeared in the Steven Soderbergh film, ‘No Sudden Move,’ and has a role in the upcoming Mike Young film, ‘Stealing Jokes.’
Dave co-hosts the podcast Kids vs. Cats and performs stand up at clubs and venues around the Detroit Metro area, having recently won a Hip-Prov show, keeping his improv chops satiated. He created ‘ Cellmates ,’ a 25 episode online animated series, providing levity to his family’s infertility journey and the comedy of coupledom that ensues.
